What is NAATI?

NAATI is the National Authority for Translators and Interpreters in Australia. It aims to maintain high national standards in translating and interpreting professions by issuing the NAATI certification to industry practitioners i.e. only a NAATI-certified translator is able to issue NAATI-certified translations.

In doing this, NAATI can increase the number of translating and interpreting professionals in Australia who are responsive to the changing needs and demographics of Australia’s culturally and linguistically diverse society and, in turn, maximise people’s ability to engage and participate in Australian society.

Our team of NAATI-accredited/certified translators assist people with certified translations for their administrative processes. We often translate crucial documents like:

  • Drivers licenses
  • Birth certificates
  • Police certificates
  • Passports
  • Diplomas and university documents
  • Business and employment documents

Learn more about our NAATI Certified Translation services below, or order your certified translation online. Our prices are designed to keep NAATI Certified Translation accessible.

Why do I need a NAATI certified translation?

If you have documents that were issued in another country and need to be translated into English for submission to an Australian Government department (e.g. the Department of Home Affairs), the translation should be completed by a NAATI Certified translator.

These linguistic professionals go through an in-depth certification and testing process that is highly regulated to ensure you receive an accurate translation that is recognised by most government bodies.

Here are a few examples of when a NAATI-certified translation would be required.

  • If you plan on driving while visiting Australia, you will be required to have a NAATI translation of your driver’s licence.
  • If you plan on studying in Australia or applying for school in Australia, you will need a NAATI translation of your diploma and/or academic transcripts.
  • If you plan on immigrating to Australia, you will be required to have NAATI translations of all official documents including birth certificates, marriage certificates and citizenship documents.
  • If you plan on starting a business in Australia, the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade will only accept documents that have been translated by a NAATI-approved translator.

Why should I choose 2M Language services as my NAATI-approved translator?

Here at 2M, we’ve translated and certified thousands of documents from over 250 languages into English, from driver’s licences to birth certificates, academic transcripts, medical certificates and more. FAQs about AcudocX & our cheap certified translation services

What is NAATI?+

NAATI is the National Accreditation Authority for Translators and Interpreters in Australia. The aim of NAATI is to maintain high national standards in translating and interpreting professions by issuing NAATI certification to industry practitioners. Only NAATI-certified translators can issue NAATI-certified translations. The end goal is to increase the number of translating and interpreting professionals in Australia who are responsive to the changing needs and demographics of Australia’s culturally and linguistically diverse society and, in turn, allow more people to engage and participate in Australian society.

What is the difference between a NAATI-certified translation and a regular translation?+

A certified translation is a translation that has been officially recognised by a government body or other organisation like NAATI. Certified translations are often required for official documents like birth certificates or passports. A regular translation is not officially recognised and is not accepted for official purposes. If you have official documents that need to be translated into English for submission to an Australian government department (e.g. the Department of Home Affairs), the translation should be completed by a NAATI-certified translator. NAATI-translated documents may be required in: The Department of Home Affairs; The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade; State registries of births, deaths and marriages; The Passport Office; The Immigration & Citizenship Office; Road and Traffic Authorities (excluding NSW); Courts of law.

What kind of documents can I translate on AcudocX?+

You can translate a wide range of documents on AcudocX, including but not limited to: Birth certificate; Death certificate; Divorce certificate; Family name change; First name change; Marriage certificate; Police clearance certificate; National ID; Baptism certificate; Employment certificate; Passport; Drivers Licence; COVID-19 vaccination certificate.

What is a NAATI Certified Extract Translation?+

Extract translations feature the most important information of a document, making them ideal for translating most personal documents and certificates. The layout of an extract translation is easy for Australian Government departments to follow and find the necessary information. Plus, it is generally a cost-effective option if you are seeking to translate a personal document and can be completed in a shorter timeframe than a full translation. All NAATI-certified extract translations are recognised by the Australian Government.

What is a self-service translation?+

Self-service translation allows you to translate your personal documents by inputting document details into the relevant fields. The online AcudocX translation service is quick and easy to use and will provide you with a NAATI-certified document once a 2M translator has checked, reviewed and approved the translated document.

Who can use this service?+

Anyone who needs a NAATI-certified translation of their documentation can use our cheap certified translation service. We provide quality translations at a fraction of the price of other providers.

How much does a translation cost?+

Our AcudocX translations start from just $39.95. Because this is self-service, there’s no need for project management and resource costs. This allows us to keep costs low for our clients while still guaranteeing quality. Every self-translated document is verified and stamped by a 2M NAATI-certified translator.

How long will it take?+

A 2M NAATI-certified translator will return your document within 24 to 48 hours of receiving it.

Will my translation be accurate?+

2M translators review all personal documents for full accuracy in line with Australian Government requirements. Once complete, the translator will return a NAATI-certified document to you. The Australian Government recognises all AcudocX documents as certified.

Are all languages covered by AcudocX?+

Currently, we support 60+ languages into English translations on AcudocX. More languages are coming. Fill out the form on this page and you will be directed to the correct ordering option.

Are my documents safe?+

Absolutely. 2M Language Services is certified for ISO 27001:2015 (Information Security Management Systems), meaning we have safeguards in place to protect the sensitivity and confidentiality of your information. Plus, our NAATI-certified translators are sworn to a strict Code of Ethics, putting the confidentiality of your documents at the forefront of everything we do.

What if my language isn’t available for translation via AcudocX?+

While AcudocX is limited to 16 languages at the moment, we have other translation services available, including our standard NAATI translation service. You can choose to upload a single document (e.g. a driver’s licence, birth certificate, police certificate, passport or one-page diploma) or multiple documents at once, and our team will be in touch to provide a personalised quote based on the project at hand. Accessing these services is simple. We have a quick online form that you can fill out to provide us with more detailed information. We’ll be in touch ASAP because translations are often time sensitive.

How do I pay for my translation?+

You can pay with Visa, Mastercard or PayPal via AcudocX. If we have provided a personalised quote, we may be able to offer a bank transfer or another payment method (if required).

Can I use AcudocX on my phone?+

Yes. The self-service and extract translation are mobile-friendly.

Can I submit more than one document at a time?+

Yes. Once you have finished selecting the sections of the documents you wish to translate (or have selected a full translation) and submitted the document, you will have the chance to add another document, whether they are the same type of document or different types of documents.

Do edits cost extra?+

Not initially, no. AcudocX provides free edits for our 2M translators to edit or revise any fields in the document for accuracy. An “edit” might include a change in text or numbers in the field e.g. the date was entered “17 May 1992” and the translator changes it to 18 May 1992”. This counts as one edit. If more edits are required after we have translated, edited and certified the document, there may be an additional fee.

If I submit an extract translation, do I need to enter all the fields?+

No, you can leave fields blank and continue filling in the rest of the fields, even if AcudocX is asking you to enter fields that you cannot find in the document.

Can you post the translated documents to me?+

Yes! Translated documents can either be delivered as a PDF to your email address or sent via Australia Post. Please note: extra charges apply for postage.

Is there another way to have my documents translated?+

Absolutely. If there’s no hurry to translate your personal documents, you can submit documents for manual translation and review, and your documents will be ready within three to five business days. Alternatively, if you absolutely need your documents within 24 hours, we have an urgent service available so you can jump the queue and get your documents back as soon as possible.
